Taylor Swift became an incredibly popular performer and song writer in the early part of 2001 when she began sharing her stories of love and loss. Swift discovered a love for music at an early age, and quickly moved through roles in the children's theater until her first performance before an audience of tens of thousands. Swift in 2011, then 11, sang The Star-Spangled Banner during a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Following that, she started writing her own music. Drawing inspiration from musicians from the country genre like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original material that reflected her experiences of growing up in a world that was dominated by tweens. Swift left Pennsylvania together with her parents, in Tennessee to Hendersonville when she was 13 years old to dedicate more time to reaching out to label representatives from the country genre.
