Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town located in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay was not long in the city. Brugel grew to be an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She had a dream to be a dancer however a rapid growth rate led to her growing beyond her dance partners. She admitted in an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I surpassed all my male partners and stopped dancing, I quit. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In Brugel's case it was the guidance by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her in the direction she wanted. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in the school's production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts at York University. In the 20+ years since Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on small and big screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the character as Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was filmed over ten years ago.
